The correspondence is both to and from John A. Scherzer, secretary of the CMM; there are also copies of correspondence between CMM officers and missionaries. Each month was filed in a separate folder. Files are arranged chronologically. There are two folders listed by subject, however; they are filed after the chronological correspondence. Alvin H. Koehler is a major correspondent (from the time he was a pastor in San Juan, Texas) as is Jacob C. Felger in his capacity as president of the CMM. Other types of documents included in this series are minutes, financial records, and reports. From January through July 1945 the original file folders had, glued to the outside of the folder, a listing of correspondence and a short summary of each letter's contents. These lists have been photocopied and included in the new folders. Topics covered include advising potential mission workers on training, missionaries' salaries, reminders of board meetings, women's missionary society support of missions, organizing new missions, and general daily operations of the missions in Texas.

The ALC met as a delegate body biennially in October, the time and place of which was determined by the president and Board of Trustees.
